Pastor Saxton was called to preach at the age of 17. After surrendering to that call he travelled with a Christian musical drama team for two years. During that time he affirmed his call and desire to preach and met his wife to be. They were married in 1980 and moved to South Carolina.
In Greenville, Pastor Saxton attended Bob Jones University and worked in the local textile mills. He taught children’s church and kindergarten Sunday school at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
In 1991 Kingsway Baptist Church called and asked him to candidate to become pastor. They had been seeking a pastor for several months. In January of 1992 Pastor Saxton and his family moved to Ringgold, LA to basically restart Kingsway B.C. The Lord blessed in a number of ways confirming to Pastor Saxton and the congregation that they had understood God’s leading.
Over the past 20 years Pastor Saxton and the congregation have enjoyed growing in their understanding of God through His word. The emphasis of the ministry is preaching in an expository style through various books of the Bible.
Pastor and Mrs. Saxton have six children, Sarah, Hannah, Samuel, Abigail, Isaac, and Lydia. The two youngest still live at home. They also have three sons-in-law, a daughter-in-law and 10 Grandchildren.
Recently, many of the young people who grew up in Kingsway during the early years of Pastor Saxton’s ministry have moved back to the area to raise their families. So, we are a relatively young Church with a lot of young families. Kingsway is a great place to raise a family!
